Activity Codes

A revised list of Activity Codes is available for use in 2008.

New Activity Codes will apply for all non-salary transactions from 1st of January 2008. To assist in the use of these Codes a Dictionary is provided which is intended as guideline for their use.

Salary Costing under the new Activity Codes has been deferred and is expected to be implemented in a staggered approach, to be completed before 30th June 2008. It is intended, with consultation with Faculties, to develop a framework for the charging of salaries to support a standard and consistent approach across the University.

Some of the more commonly used codes that are no longer available for Non-Salary income and expense include:

1. Activity 14 (Faculty/Department Support)
2. Activity 32 (Technical Laboratory Support)
3. Activity 41 (Central Administration)

Among the new Codes available are:

1. Activity 21 Financial Services
2. Activity 25 Office Support
3. Activity 81 Teaching Support Services
4. Activity 82 Research Support Services
