Creating a Themis account

In order to create your Themis account you must have an active staff or student email account.

New staff (or research students) at the University of Melbourne should complete the following process to activate their account (if you already have an email account go to step 3):

  1. Log into the Accounts Registration System and create a staff (or student) email account
  2. Wait 24 hours
  3. Log into the Accounts Registration System again and create a Themis account (ThemisPROD)

Refer to the Setting/resetting your Themis password information for further details.

Note: you may need to wait up to 15-20 minutes after creating your Themis account before you can view your Themis responsibilities.

Themis responsibilities

Responsibilities are levels of access to the Themis system.

To apply for additional responsibilities, complete and have authorised the Themis Responsibility Application Form and forward to Themis Service Desk (refer to the Applying for Themis responsibilities reference card for further information.

Training may be required before access is granted for some Themis responsibilities (e.g.: financial and timekeeper). Please view Themis Training for available training courses.

Accessing Themis

To log in to Themis navigate to the Themis website http://www.themis.unimelb.edu.au/ and click on the grey Themis login button. You will be prompted to enter your username and Themis password.

Delegation and authority

Financial

Staff who approve financial transactions within Themis will require financial delegation authority (either $5,000 or $60,000).
To obtain a financial delegation and record a specimen signature, you will need to complete the Financial Delegation and Signature Authority form available from the Financial Operations web site.

Human Resources

Staff who approve human resource transactions within Themis will require an HR Delegation level appropriate to their position (e.g.: supervisors are allocated level 1, Heads of department are allocated level 2, etc).
Delegations are specified on the HR2 – Position Establishment form when a position is created.

Research

Staff who need access to view all submission, proposal and agreement records within their department or faculty will require an appropriate research delegation level (Department View Access or Faculty View Access).

 

To obtain the required delegation level you will need to complete Part 2 – Department and Budget Unit Details on the Themis Responsibility Application form, have it authorised and submit it to the Themis Service Desk.
