Introduction to Themis Financials
Description:
This course aims to introduce staff to the functions available in Themis Financials. Participants will be introduced to the University policy and procedures that govern the payment and receipting processes (including GST and FBT legislation requirements). Participants are also trained in the main areas of financial transactions, including payment of internal and external accounts, receipting of money to external customers and accounts receivable invoicing.
Intended Audience:
Staff, new to the University or their position, who are responsible for administering the financial transactions within their department or faculty.
Structure:
This course has been the subject of a review by the Documentation & Training Services team. This review consists of two stages:
- Developing a revised course that will suit the immediate needs of people currently awaiting training
- Developing a suite of courses to suit the ongoing needs of users of Themis Financials
The revised course will comprise of two classes. Staff must enrol and attend both classes in order to have their system access granted (or confirmed).
Introduction to Themis Financials: Overview 2hrs total (1 x 2hr session delivered in a lecture theatre)
Covering basic Introduction to Finance at the University of Melbourne and basic Themis access, navigation, common processes and support resources. Introduction to Themis Financials: Overview must be completed as a pre-requisite to:
Introduction to Themis Financials: Transactions 8hrs total (2 x 4hr sessions delivered in a computer lab).
Covering a general overview of Finance modules (context, functions & rules) and practical training and exercises in each of the module areas: AR: Invoicing and Receipting, Using Themis to Pay Accounts (AP), Internal Transactions, Purchasing.

Note: you must enrol in both the Overview and Transaction sessions in order to be granted the UOM Data Entry responsibility. We recommend you enrol in the Overview and Transaction sessions on sequential dates (e.g.: Overview 25 February, Transaction 25&26 February).
